About Trip

Mera Peak is officially the highest trekking peak climbing of Nepal’s permitted trekking peaks. Mera Peak offers a real mountaineering adventure with thrilling experience inside the very popular Khumbu region of Nepal. The peak rises to the south of Everest and dominates the watershed between the uninhabited valleys of Hinku and Honku.

Mera Peak was first climbed in 20 May 1953 by J.O.M. Roberts and Sen Tenzing. However, the proper ascend of Mera Peak was made in 1975 by French climbers Marcel Jolly, G. Baus and C.Honnis following the same route as Roberts but traversing along the connecting ridge to the further summit.

Massive number of climbers choose Mera Peak because it offers unlimited climbing adventure as well as stunning scenery of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Amadablam and many other snow-capped peaks inside Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. Mera Peak Climbing is an excellent option for those seeking an adventurous climbing and memorable trekking experience in Everest region. All in all one gets to experience the highland Sherpa cultural villages and explore Buddhist monasteries, mountain glaciers and the rich flora and fauna of Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park.

Mera Peak Climbing

Mera Peak Climbing begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.  Also  Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region of Nepal. After landing at Lukla we start our trek over an ascending trail towards untouched and less crowded valley. Our trek passes through several charming villages, frozen waterfalls, dense forests and agricultural farmlands with spectacular scenery until we reach Mera Peak Base Camp. At the Base Camp, we will spend some time for acclimatization and preparation for Mera Peak Climbing. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped with all the necessary climbing gears, we will follow the guidance of our experienced climbing expert.

Tackling several technical climbing sections we head towards Mera Peak summit. Also  our tiring climb to the summit is reward with sensational views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Amadablam and many other peaks within Everest region.  We will spend short quality time at the summit and descend down following the same route. For our return journey we will retrace our steps back to reach Lukla. Our memorable Mera Peak Climbing trip ends with a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Acclimatization is very essential in higher altitudes to avoid mental and physical sickness. As we are above 5000 meters altitude, we will spend a rest day at Khare for acclimatization and exploration. Proper acclimatization is a must for ensuring our successful summit climb of Mera Peak.
