It is the national park protect with the assistance of Nepal army. National Park is establish in 1976. Rara region is manage by the department of national parks and wildlife conservation. Rara national park is the smallest national park of Nepal. The biggest lake ‘Rara’ lies here in this region. The depth of lake Rara is 167m .Rara Lake is pride of this National Park. Rara national park lies on the altitude of 2990m. This park was establish to protect the special rare flora and fauna of Humla-Jumla region.It is the national park full of natural beauties and lakes and ponds. The trek leads through remote countryside toward the Tibetan border. Location of Rara National Park
It is located in the far north western part of our country Nepal.It covers the area of 106 square km. National park is located in Humla and Mugu district.It lies on Himalayan region. The park is in the Southern side of Rara Lake. Rara Lake is the biggest lake in the country. The lake is 167 m deep at some places, and drains into the rivers Mugu Karnali via Nijar Khola.
Flora and Fauna
There are two species of reptiles and amphibians, 3 species of fishes recorded by the national park. There are 52 species of mammals, 241 species of birds and 49 wetland species. 1070 species of flora are record by Rara national park. Agriculture is the basic occupations in the surrounding areas. This park includes musk deer, red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, Indian bear,etc. National Park have bird varieties Himalayan monals, Kalij, Himalayan Snow cock. Frog species are record.
The park is surrounded by alpine coniferous vegetation and offers a representative sample of the region’s flora and fauna.
Activity in Rara National Park
Mostly boating and view of mountains and lakes are famous activity done here. Trekking, hiking, jungle safari are lightly taken among here.

The climate of the Rara national park is pheasant in summer and becomes a bit cold in the winter . It is near the altitudes and it affects the climate as well.

The best time to visit Rara national park is September/October and April to May. The best time to visit the park is autumn, spring and summer. As a well-loved tourist region, tourist services and infrastructure have developed over the years.
How to Reach Rara National Park ?
Road and Air transportation both are applicable to visit this National Park. The easiest means to reach Rara is to take a flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla, from where your destination is 2-3 days walk away. It takes 21 hr 1 min to reach Rara region by road way bus/jeep/car.
