Annapurna Sunrise Trekking - 10 Days

Annapurna Sunrise Trekking
410

Annapurna Sunrise Trek is a moderate trek that is suitable for anyone who enjoys walking and has a reasonable degree of fitness. It offers an introduction to life in the central Himalaya and spectacular views of 70 peaks over 6000m. It is ideal as a first trek for families with children; over 6 years of age. The variety in the scenery and the interest that agricultural life can offer children should help awaken in them a lifelong interest in adventure in the great outdoors.

This Annapurna Sunrise Trekking begins with a 6-7 hour bus ride from Kathmandu through forests and agricultural hill country to the holiday city of Pokhara on beautiful Phewa Lake with the 80 km Annapurna Range rising to the north.

After breakfast, a scenic 1½h drive along a winding hill-road takes you to Nayapul and the start of the trek. The first day follows a river, often rising to the terraced villages along the ridges. The second day passes through dense forests of rhododendron, oak and maple as the path ascends to the prosperous village of Ghorepani.

The third day begins before dawn with a steep walk to the summit of Poon Hill (3210m) from where you should be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise that highlights the ice-clad giants above. After breakfast your trail to the east continues to offer great mountain views from the ridges. Two fairly easy days trek to Tadapani and then the larger village of Ghandruk. The final day follows the Mod River Valley that carries melt water from the ring of glacial Annapurna peak through the Annapurna base camp to the lowlands. From Nayapul, return to your hotel in Pokhara – for some last minute shopping at the myriad tiny shops along the lake front.

This trek can be offered throughout the year, although at times distant views could be marred by cloud or heat haze. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes, a day pack, warm clothing, sleeping bag and camera. Our trek includes transport, accommodation, meals, drinking water and showers.
